MOROCCAN DREAMS
Moroccan Dreams is the first major piece I created in 2026, and the artwork that inspired me to start creating consistently again.
Three months of work felt like a glance, because painting this piece took me straight back to my trip to Morocco eight years ago.
2018 was officially my year of adventure. It was the year I went abroad for an exchange program in Spain, marking the first time I had ever been away from home for such a long period — ten whole months!
I couldn’t have been happier when I found out that the student group was organizing a five-day trip to Morocco. I knew I had to be there.
I had always been drawn to Arabic music, tea, vibrant colors, bazaars, and the atmosphere of the medinas. My fascination with Morocco actually began years earlier, when I first encountered its culture through the famous Brazilian TV series O Clone, which takes place in both Brazil and Morocco. Ever since then, visiting this country had been a dream of mine, and eventually, it came true.
I still remember listening to Sting’s Desert Rose on the bus as we made our way to Fez. We traveled from southern Spain, crossed the Strait of Gibraltar to Ceuta, and continued our journey through the blue city of Chefchaouen, Fez, and Asilah.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was, of course, exploring the colorful bazaars. I was so excited to bring those memories back to life and paint one of them on a very large canvas!
